For Non-Fiction Authors

What I Do

  • Project Development and Book Proposals - Do you have a great idea for a book? Are you trying to build your professional platform? Is it time to expand the reach of the blog, newsletter, or articles you write for others in your professional space? I collaborate with non-fiction authors to grow the seed of an idea into an original, marketable book proposal that showcases their subject matter expertise and promises to expand the reach of their ideas.

  • Ghostwriting - After your nonfiction book proposal is sold, the hard work of writing and revision begins. For people who have never written a book before or for those who don’t have the time to write regularly in order to meet a publisher’s deadlines, the process can be daunting. That’s when hiring a ghostwriter can be a crucial part of an author’s success. I can help structure a book, write it, and implement feedback from agents and publishers on the pathway to publication. Although each of these collaborate processes is unique, my approach is author first, so that your book is a true reflection of your knowledge, ideas, and voice.

  • Editorial Services - After all the time and effort you’ve put into writing your book, you want to make sure you’re submitting the best possible manuscript you can. During the process of revision, I partner with you to offer feedback and ideas, to implement other editorial feedback, to improve your writing, and to capture your authentic voice on the page. I am also available for final copyediting and proofreading.

"We consider Julie our magical fairy godmother! We worked with her to develop and edit our book proposal. She understood exactly what we needed and provided it at the right moments. She helped us shape the overall narrative of the book, worked with us to create a table of contents and structure, and then helped us refine the text. She took the time to speak with each of us individually to ensure that she understood our combined and separate voice and tone and provided suggestions for how to bring out the best in us.

Julie is delightful to work with. She's clear about timelines, always responds within a few days, and works collaboratively in Google Docs. Any author would be lucky to work with Julie!"
